The identification and detection of possible outbreaks of invasive species in pristine areas, followed by their control or eradication, is one of the objectives of action C.1 \u2013 Improvement of habitat quality for Tarphius floresensis, Pseudanchomenus aptinoides and Trechus terrabravensis of the LIFE BEETLES project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change.<\/em><\/p>\n

Following these operational works, it is necessary to regularly monitor the identified outbreaks and evaluate the success of the applied methodology. <\/em>It is with great satisfaction that, after a year, the physical and chemical control of the invasive species Hedychium gardnerianum, commonly known as Kahili Ginger and one of the greatest threats to native vegetation in the intervention zone FLO1 – Ferros Velhos, on the island of Flores, was carried out successfully, without damaging the surrounding endemic vegetation.<\/em><\/p>\n

The native vegetation of this habitat, characterized by dense wooded bogs, now has the opportunity to recover its space!<\/em><\/p>\n
