In June, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA and LIFE BEETLES projects, in cooperation with the Pico Environment and Climate Change Service, reinforced a population of the Azorean Spurge (Euphorbia stygiana<\/em>) on the island of Pico. Thirty-five individuals were planted in an area with a population of this species. The new individuals were marked with stakes to facilitate monitoring of their evolution and the success of the planting.<\/p>\n

This action is part of action C3.2 \u201cIn-situ conservation\u201d of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project. It seeks to increase populations of endemic species protected under the Habitats Directive in their natural habitat<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The LIFE BEETLES and LIFE IP AZORES NATURA projects, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, have been running since 2020 and 2019, respectively. Cooperation between the projects is a fundamental pillar that guarantees the success of conservation work, the exchange of ideas and the sharing of results.<\/p>\n
