The three target species of the LIFE BEETLES project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, have been included on the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) Green List<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The IUCN has implemented a new methodology designed to \u201ceffectively measure the success of species conservation programmes\u201d. This method is not intended to replace the Red List of Threatened Species, but rather to \u201ccomplement it by demonstrating the real success of nature conservation projects\u201d. While the IUCN Red List assesses the risk of extinction, the Green List assesses species recovery and measures the positive impact of conservation initiatives.<\/p>\n

Including these species on the Green List reflects the conservation efforts made, of which the LIFE BEETLES project is an integral part. Actions such as the exclusion of livestock from protected areas, the removal of invasive species and the creation of ecological corridors contribute significantly to determining the long-term recovery rate of species and the viability of their populations.<\/p>\n
