Within the scope of the project, it is predicted a set of activities to raise environmental awareness with schools and the general public. In this sense, field trips for environmental interpretation, activities in schools, visits to intervention areas, among others, are planned.

You can download the educational offer HERE.

For the 2023/2024 school year, we have the following actions planned:

WALK THROUGH BIODIVERSITY

10/10/2023

Target audience: Secondary school with sixth form
Time: 02h00
Action Islands: Flores / Pico/ Terceira

School activity with the aim to:

  • Call on the importance of Biodiversity and the existence of healthy ecosystems;
  • Alert to the ecosystem services provided by Nature, in particular Arthropods;
  • Promote environmental awareness and the practice of environmental volunteering;
  • Publicize active measures for nature conservation at regional and European level.

Interpretive walk through the intervention areas of LIFE BEETLES project, with observation and approach to the local fauna and flora. We will visit one of the SLAM insect traps, along the route, and show the conservation works carried out by the project technicians. Depending on the time of year, students can take an active part in conservation work, by planting endemic species or removing invasive species.

  • Change the negative perception towards insects;
  • Stimulate curiosity for entomology;

This board game aims to introduce the universe of arthropods in a dynamic way, exploring adaptations to the habitats, trophic interactions and their importance in ecosystems. The game allows the application of concepts of ecology and nature conservation in a simplified and fun way for students.
