Workshop to introduce the project to the stakeholders – Terceira, Pico and Flores Islands

28/09/2020

Throughout July and September 2020 a Workshop for the presentation of the LIFE BEETLES project to different stakeholders took place in Pico, Terceira and Flores islands, as part of action A.2 (Re)engagement of the Stakeholders. Tourist animation companies, teachers, NGO’s and DRA technicians were present. In addition to the presentation and discussion of the project’s actions, there was an important exchange of ideas about the opportunities for collaboration between all parties.
During the activity, there was a presentation and discussion of the project’s actions, fostering an important exchange of ideas about the opportunities for collaboration between both parties. In the second part of the event, there was a practical component, which showed some specimens of the projects target species and other arthropods. Some techniques for capturing arthropods, used in the project monitoring field work , were demonstrated.
The exchange of ideas throughout the activity and the analysis of the activity evaluation surveys, concluded that, in general, the interested parties considered the conservation actions adequate, considering the habitat and distribution of the species. With regard to opportunities for collaboration, the most popular form of collaboration referred to was the dissemination of activities, followed by participation in voluntary work. From this we can deduce that the represented institutions can take an active role in the dissemination of the project and the actions carried out.
