Taking advantage of the Final Conference LIFE BEETLES, we enthusiastically welcomed two institutions for an enriching exchange of experiences and field visits:

  • RESCUE Project – Rescue of Endemic Plant and Beetle Species from Extinction in the Ilhas Selvagens, coordinated by IFCN-RAM;
  • VITA NATIVA, an environmental NGO that promotes nature conservation through sustainability, monitoring and environmental education projects.

Both entities have extensive experience in conservation projects and showed particular interest in the real impact that LIFE BEETLES has had on native arthropod populations in the Azores.

During the visit, the representatives had the opportunity to:

  • Present their projects at the conference;
  • See first-hand the habitat improvement, arthropod monitoring and invasive species control actions carried out in the LIFE BEETLES intervention areas.
  • Knowledge sharing between teams and projects with different contexts represents an added value for strengthening nature conservation at the national level.
