Although the LIFE BEETLES project was completed last December, its impact remains evident on the islands where it was executed. Throughout its implementation, the project prioritised procuring goods and services from local suppliers, boosting the regional economy and fostering community involvement.

The work carried out with tourism operators and local businesses also contributed to enhancing the Region’s appeal, promoting ecotourism and reinforcing the recognition of the Azores as a sustainable destination.

Impacts achieved by the project:

Creation of 10 direct annual jobs on the islands involved;

Direct investment in local services and resources, distributed as follows:

Terceira – 900,000 euros;

Pico – 400,000 euros;

Flores – 300,000 euros;

Strengthening the technical capacity of local teams through the acquisition of new equipment and the provision of specialised training dedicated to the conservation of the Azores’ natural habitats.

The completion of the project does not mark the end of its contribution: the capacity built, the investments made, and the enhancement of the Region will continue to drive nature conservation and sustainable development on the islands.
