The LFE BEEETLES project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, was visited by the citizen group Conviver+ in its intervention areas of Lagoa do Caiado on the island of Pico.
It was a beneficial time for sharing knowledge and an opportunity to inform the local community about the project’s target species and the nature conservation work that has been carried out to date. Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, it wasn’t possible to carry out the tree planting, but a second visit by the group was promised.
Close contact with the local community is essential in nature conservation projects. This involvement promotes a sense of belonging to the project’s target species and a greater understanding of the urgent need to preserve healthy ecosystems.
