Volunteering is an essential tool in supporting nature conservation work. In addition to its direct impact on the ground, it promotes community involvement and strengthens the local population’s sense of belonging to the project’s target species and protected areas.

Recently, the LIFE BEETLES project welcomed two groups of volunteers, who participated with great enthusiasm and a sense of mission:

  • Agrupamento CNE 1334 St.º Antonio Oliveirinha – Aveiro
  • TU Kaiserslautern University – Germany

Together they contributed to the planting of around 280 endemic trees on the islands of Terceira and Pico, including Azores Juniper, Azorean Heather and Azorean Buckthorn.
