The LIFE BEETLES project participated in the celebration of the 22nd Eco-Schools award winning at the Basic and Secondary School of Sรฃo Roque do Pico, through its range of activities.
Throughout the day, the project team ran the workshop โ€œInsects ร  lupaโ€ (Insects under magnifying glass), involving 115 students from different levels of education who had the opportunity to observe, identify and learn a little more about the Ground Beetle (๐˜—๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ถ๐˜ด ๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด), the Ironclad Beetle (Tarphius floresensis) and the Ground Beetle (๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ถ๐˜ด ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ด), the target species of the LIFE BEETLES project.
The Eco-Schools award is an international program that aims to encourage actions and recognize the quality work carried out by schools, within the scope of Environmental Awareness and Sustainable Development Education. In the Azores, this program is promoted by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change.
