The first weekend of February 2021 was marked by the event “Humanity and Biosphere”, in Flores Island, as a way to raise awareness among the local populations about the importance of the archipelago’s biodiversity. This activity was inserted within the scope of the Actions of Public Awareness and Dissemination of Project Results. We had the opportunity to talk about the urge of conserving habitats and species of international interest, such is the case of the beetle Tarphius floresensis, endemic to Flores Island. This species is Critically Endangered and is covered as a target-species for the LIFE BEETLES project. Out in the field, it was possible to educate the population about the importance of the beetle and its habitat in a more interactive way, via photographic resources and an educational trail.

We thank all the participants and we hope you have enjoyed it!
