In order to detect possible outbreaks of invasive species, the operational team of the LIFE BEETLES project recently surveyed the PIC1 – Mistério da Prainha intervention area.
The monitoring was carried out along several strips of land, towards the interior of the intervention area.
Some small focuses of 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘮 were detected and duly signaled, which will be removed later.
Being considered one of the most pristine areas of the island of Pico, this intervention area is simultaneously one of the distribution sites of the target species of the project Pseudanchomenus aptinoides, where it finds ideal habitat conditions and where the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change is developing efforts for its conservation.
